Mauger was the third eldest and probably eldest legitimate son of Roger I of Sicily. He was the son of his second wife, Eremburga of Mortain. His father made him count of Troina, but little else of him is known. He died after 1098, but when is uncertain and if he outlived his father he made no claim to the county of Sicily.

Catherine of Limburg (1215-1255) was a duchess consort of Lorraine by marriage to Matthias II, Duke of Lorraine. She was regent of Lorraine during the minority of her son Frederick III, Duke of Lorraine between 1251-1255.

Pope John XIX, born Romanus, was bishop of Rome and ruler of the Papal States from 1024 to his death. He belonged to the family of the powerful counts of Tusculum, succeeding his brother, Benedict VIII. Papal relations with the Patriarchate of Constantinople soured during John XIX's pontificate. He was a supporter of Emperor Conrad II and patron of the musician Guido of Arezzo.

Ermentrude of Orléans was Queen of the Franks by her marriage to Charles the Bald, Holy Roman Emperor and King of West Francia. She was the daughter of Odo, Count of Orléans, and his wife, Engeltrude de Fézensac. The epithet "of Orléans" is not contemporary.
