Mark Cleland Baker is an American linguist. He received his Ph.D. from MIT in 1985 and has taught at Rutgers since 1998. Prof. Baker frequently was a faculty member at the Linguistic Society of America's Summer Institute and, prior to coming to Rutgers, was a faculty member at McGill University (1986-1998). He worked on the Mohawk language for several years, also serving as a consultant on language revitalization for the Mohawk. Working within generative grammar, he wrote several important books about the formal analysis of polysynthetic languages.

Gerard van Groesbeeck (1517–1580) was a prelate who became the 88th Bishop of Liège, as well as Prince-Abbot of Stavelot and a cardinal of the Catholic Church.

Matthew Albert Hunter (1878-1961) was a metallurgist and inventor of the Hunter process for producing titanium metal.

Athīr al‐Dīn al‐Mufaḍḍal ibn ʿUmar ibn al‐Mufaḍḍal al‐Samarqandī al‐Abharī, also known as Athīr al‐Dīn al‐Munajjim was an Iranian philosopher, astronomer, astrologer and mathematician. Other than his influential writings, he had many famous disciples.

Henry Seymour later Portman, of Orchard Portman, Somerset, was an English politician who sat in the House of Commons of England and then Great Britain almost continually between 1679 and 1715.
