Melchior Römer was a Swiss politician, mayor of Zürich (1867–1889) and President of the Swiss National Council (1878/79).

Edward Ward, 9th Baron Dudley and 4th Baron Ward succeeded to the titles of Baron Dudley and Baron Ward at his birth in 1704, his father having died during the period of his mother's pregnancy. He died unmarried in 1731, when the titles were passed on to his uncle, William Ward.

Robert Paul "Bob" Kraft was an American astronomer. He performed pioneering work on Cepheid variables, stellar rotation, novae, and the chemical evolution of the Milky Way. His name is also associated with the Kraft break: the abrupt change in the average rotation rate of main sequence stars around spectral type F8.
