Admiral George Carnegie, 6th Earl of Northesk was born the son of David Carnegie, 4th Earl of Northesk and Lady Margaret Wemyss on 2 August 1716. A career naval officer, he fought in the War of the Austrian Succession and the First Carnatic War, where in the East Indies he participated in the action of 6 July 1746. His service was curtailed by a series of debilitating illnesses and he never served at sea again after being promoted to rear-admiral in 1756. He died on 20 January 1792 at age 75.

Marie-Anne Lagimodière was a French-Canadian woman noted as both the grandmother of Louis Riel, and as the first woman of European descent to travel to and settle in what is now Western Canada.

Admiral of the Fleet Sir Michael Le Fanu was a Royal Navy officer. He fought in the Second World War as gunnery officer in a cruiser operating in the Home Fleet during the Norwegian Campaign and the Battle of the Mediterranean and then as gunnery officer in a battleship operating in the Eastern Fleet before becoming liaison officer between the British Pacific Fleet and the United States Third Fleet. After the War he commanded a frigate, a training establishment and an aircraft carrier. He served as First Sea Lord and Chief of the Naval Staff in the late 1960s. In that role, in the face of economic difficulties, he worked hard to reshape the Navy as an anti-submarine force operating primarily in the Atlantic Ocean.

Sir Peter James Torry is a British former diplomat who was the UK Ambassador to Germany from 2003 until 30 September 2007. He is now a senior adviser to Cairn Capital and to STAR Capital Partners. He is on the Supervisory Board of Blohm and Voss AG. He is a member of the advisory board of Betfair plc and of the Kiel Global Economic Symposium and a policy fellow of the Institute on the Future of Employment in Bonn. He was a member of the advisory panel of Lloyds Pharmacy until April 2010 and a senior adviser to DAM Capital until December 2009, to Centrica plc until 2012 and to Celesio AG. He was educated at Dover College and New College, Oxford where he won a blue for Rugby.

Edward Anthony Holden was a landowner who lived at Aston Hall, in Aston upon Trent, Derbyshire. He inherited land and bought more starting in 1833. He was High Sheriff of Derbyshire in 1838/9. By the time of his death he had created an estate of over 2,000 acres (8.1 km²) of land in Derbyshire and Leicestershire.

Sophia of Saxe-Weissenfels was a German aristocrat and culture patron, Countess of Brandenburg-Bayreuth by marriage to George William, Margrave of Brandenburg-Bayreuth.

Charles le Moyne de Longueuil et de Châteauguay, was a French officer and merchant who was a prominent figure in the early days of Montreal. Born in Dieppe, France in Normandy, he came to New France in 1641. He became lord of Longueuil in Canada.
