Justus Ferdinand Christian Loder was a German anatomist and surgeon who was a native of Riga.

Lipman "Lipa" Bers was a Latvian-American mathematician, born in Riga, who created the theory of pseudoanalytic functions and worked on Riemann surfaces and Kleinian groups. He was also known for his work in human rights activism.

Richard Rössler, also Roessler or Rößler was a Baltic German pianist, organist, composer and music educator. In 1910, he married the pianist Dora Charlotte Mayer (1887–1951), a Württemberg pastor's daughter who had studied in Berlin with Ernst von Dohnányi and Max Bruch. The couple had three children.

Aristid von Grosse was a German nuclear chemist. During his work with Otto Hahn, he got access to waste material from radium production, and with this starting material he was able in 1927 to isolate protactinium oxide and was later able to produce metallic protactinium by decomposition of protactinium iodide.
