Armando Valladares Perez is a Cuban-American poet, diplomat and human rights activist.
Ariel Hernández
Ariel Hernández Azcuy is a boxer from Cuba, who won two Olympic gold medals in the Middleweight division (71–75 kg); at the 1992 and 1996 Summer Olympics. He captured the world title at the 1995 World Amateur Boxing Championships in Berlin, just two months after having triumphed at the Pan American Games in Mar del Plata.
Solángel Guzmán
Solángel Guzmán Pérez is a Cuban female badminton player, and now represented Trinidad and Tobago. Guzman was a top badminton player in Cuba, where she became a Pan Am Games doubles quarter-finalist, a CAC singles champion and also medalled at the Peru Open, as well as tournaments in Brazil, Venezuela and Dominican Republic. Since arriving in T&T, she has also dominated the local badminton scene, taking the triple crown in every tournament.
Liván López
Liván López Azcuy is a male freestyle wrestler from Cuba who competes in the 66 kg category. In 2011, he won a gold medal at the Pan American Games and a bronze medal at the 2011 World Wrestling Championships. The next year he won a bronze medal at the 2012 Summer Olympics.
Yarisley Silva
Yarisley Silva Rodríguez is a Cuban pole vaulter. She won the silver medal at the 2012 Summer Olympics – the first Latin American athlete to win an Olympic medal in that event.
