As a junior, he was a 2017 first team (media) and second team (coaches) All-Big Ten selection. As a senior, he was first team All-Big Ten and received several second team All-American recognition. He played outside linebacker and tight end at Michigan before switching to defensive end as a junior. He was drafted by the Patriots in the third round of the 2019 NFL Draft.

Albert "Al" Andrew Schmid was a United States Marine awarded the Navy Cross for his heroism at the Battle of the Tenaru during the Guadalcanal campaign in World War II. Credited with killing over 200 Japanese attackers during a night-long assault, he was blinded in action by a grenade blast and endured multiple surgeries and extended rehabilitation upon his return to the U.S.

William Francis Kemmler was an American peddler, alcoholic, and murderer, who in 1890 became the first person in the world to be executed by electric chair. Although electrocution had previously been successfully used to kill a horse, Kemmler's execution did not go smoothly.
