John James "Honest John" Patterson was a businessman and United States Senator from South Carolina. He was a Republican.

Philip Paul Bliss was an American composer, conductor, writer of hymns and a bass-baritone Gospel singer. He wrote many well-known hymns, including "Almost Persuaded" (1871); "Hallelujah, What a Saviour!" (1875); "Let the Lower Lights Be Burning"; "Wonderful Words of Life" (1875); and the tune for Horatio Spafford's "It Is Well with My Soul" (1876).

Elliot S. N. Morgan was an American politician from Pennsylvania. Morgan served as Acting Governor of Wyoming Territory in 1885, and again from 1886 to 1887.

Tritle was the first governor to have visited Arizona before his appointment and also the first governor to make the territory his lifelong home.

Patrick Aloysius O'Boyle was an American prelate of the Roman Catholic Church. He served as the first resident Archbishop of Washington from 1948 to 1973, and was elevated to the cardinalate in 1967.
