Robert Jacobus Forbes or Robert James Forbes was a Dutch chemist and historian of science and professor in the history of applied science and technology at the University of Amsterdam.

Jan Jansz. Vos was a Dutch playwright and poet. A glassmaker by trade, he also played an important role as stage-manager and director of the theatre. He organized, on the mayors' orders, processions and splendid decorated floats, which sometimes drew disapproval, criticism, and derision.

Theodorus Johannes Thijssen was a Dutch writer, teacher and socialist politician. He is best known for the book Kees de Jongen.

Adriaan van Maanen was a Dutch–American astronomer.

Samuel Sarphati was a Dutch physician and Amsterdam city planner.

Nicolaas van der Waay (1855–1936) was a Dutch decorative artist, watercolorist and lithographer. He worked in many genres, including stamp, coin and banknote designs. He is perhaps best known for the allegorical illustrations he created for the Golden Coach and a series of paintings depicting the lives of girls from the Amsterdam Orphanage. His work was also part of the painting event in the art competition at the 1928 Summer Olympics.

Herman Wirth was a Dutch-German historian and scholar of ancient religions and symbols. He co-founded the SS-organization Ahnenerbe but was later pushed out by Heinrich Himmler.
