List of Famous people born in Lower Saxony, Germany

Jacob Dircksz de Graeff was one of the most illustrious members of the De Graeff family. He was a powerful member of the States Faction, regent and mayor of Amsterdam after the political collapse of Reinier Pauw in 1627.

Henriette Christine of Braunschweig-Wolfenbüttel was a German princess. Among the younger of her parents' many children, she was installed as Abbess of Gandersheim following the death in 1693 of abbess Christina of Mecklenburg, her cousin. She and her successor as abbess, Elisabeth Ernestine Antonie, were well connected and great patrons of the arts: in the judgement of certain historians they presided over something of a golden age at Gandersheim. In 1712 Abbess Henrietta Christine made her place in the history books secure by giving birth. This put an end to her tenure.

Elisabeth Ebeling was a German film and stage actress. She received the Kurt-Sieder-Preis in 2013. In total, she played several hundred roles and was involved with famous directors, including Rainer Werner Fassbinder and Klaus Michael Grüber.

Caroline Schelling, née Michaelis, widowed Böhmer, divorced Schlegel, was a noted German intellectual. She was one of the so-called Universitätsmamsellen, a group of five academically active women during the 18th and 19th centuries, daughters of academics at Göttingen University, alongside Meta Forkel-Liebeskind, Therese Huber, Philippine Engelhard, and Dorothea Schlözer.

Ernest III of Brunswick-Grubenhagen-Herzberg, was a member of the noble family of Guelph and a duke of Brunswick-Grubenhagen.

Prince Friedrich Heinrich Albrecht, Prince of Prussia was a Prussian officer, member of the house of Hohenzollern, and a great-grandson of Friedrich Wilhelm III of Prussia. He was persecuted for being homosexual.
