He is best known for his 2012 film A Royal Affair which won two prizes at the Berlin International Film Festival and was nominated for Best Foreign Language Film at the Academy Awards, as well as the 2017 American film The Dark Tower. He is based in Hollywood, where he is working on a feature adaptation of Don Winslow's The Power of the Dog.

Frederik Andersen is a Danish professional ice hockey goaltender for the Toronto Maple Leafs of the National Hockey League (NHL). He has also played for the Anaheim Ducks.
