Vincent Richard Impellitteri was an American politician and judge who served as the 101st Mayor of New York City, 1950-53. He was elected as a Democrat as president of the City Council in 1945, and reelected in 1949. When Mayor William O'Dwyer resigned in 1950, he became acting mayor. He lost the Democratic primary for the nomination for a full term but was subsequently elected mayor on a new ticket, the "Experience Party". He lost the Democratic primary when he ran for reelection in 1953, and became a judge in 1954.

Lucius Verginius Rufus was a Roman commander of Germania Superior during the late 1st century. He was three times consul. He was born near Comum, the birthplace of both Pliny the Elder and Pliny the Younger.

Giovanni Battista Scanaroli or Giovanni Battista Scannaroli was a Roman Catholic prelate who served as Titular Bishop of Sidon (1630–1664).

Alfredo Catalani was an Italian operatic composer. He is best remembered for his operas Loreley (1890) and La Wally (1892). La Wally was composed to a libretto by Luigi Illica, and features Catalani's most famous aria "Ebben? Ne andrò lontana." This aria, sung by American soprano Wilhelmenia Fernandez, was at the heart of Jean-Jacques Beineix's 1981 film Diva. Catalani's other operas were much less successful.

Sperone Speroni degli Alvarotti (1500–1588) was an Italian Renaissance humanist, scholar and dramatist. He was one of the central members of Padua's literary academy Accademia degli Infiammati and wrote on both moral and literary matters.

James of Viterbo, born Giacomo Capocci, was an Italian Roman Catholic Augustinian friar and Scholastic theologian, who later became Archbishop of Naples.
