Joseph Van Daele was a Belgian champion cyclist who was a professional rider between 1912 and 1926. He participated in many top cycle races of the time including the Tour de France where he finished eighth in 1919.

Jacques Dubois was a French anatomist. Dubois was the first to describe venous valves, although their function was later discovered by William Harvey. He was the brother of Franciscus Sylvius Ambianus, professor of humanities at the Collège de Tournai, Paris.
Michel d'Herbigny
Michel-Joseph Bourguignon d'Herbigny was a French Jesuit scholar and Roman Catholic bishop. He was president of the Pontifical Oriental Institute in Rome, and of the Pontifical Commission for Russia. He was secretly consecrated a bishop and was instrumental in a failed attempt to establish a clandestine hierarchy for the Catholic Church in the Soviet Union during the religious persecutions of the 1920s.

Jules Nempon was a French road racing cyclist. Nempon was born on 2 March 1890 in Armbouts-Cappel. Nempon first participated in the Tour de France in 1911, but did not finish. In total, he started in 10 Tours de France. His best result was the 1919 Tour de France, where he finished tenth. Because there were only 10 finishers, he also receiving the Lanterne rouge for finishing in the last place.
