Sarah Edwards was an American missionary, and the wife of theologian Jonathan Edwards. Her husband was initially drawn to her spiritual openness, direct relationship with God, and periods of spiritual ecstasy. As a theological student at Yale, he had longed to have a personal relationship with God. His wife's experiences, similar to those of Saint Teresa of Ávila, profoundly affected his religious life and the formation of the New Light. She was a model of spirituality during the Great Awakening of the early 18th century. Her experiences of religious ecstasy were documented in Jonathan Edward's work, Some Thoughts Concerning the Present Revival of Religion in New England. She was a Puritan who took her faith very seriously.

Theodore Sedgwick was an American attorney, politician, and jurist who served in elected state government and as a delegate to the Continental Congress, a US representative, and a senator from Massachusetts. He served as the fourth Speaker of the United States House of Representatives. He was appointed to the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court in 1802 and served there for the rest of his life.

Elijah Boardman was a senator from Connecticut. Born to a noted and politically connected Connecticut family, he served in the United States Army before becoming a noted merchant and businessman. Becoming involved in property and land ownership in Connecticut and Ohio, he founded the towns of Boardman and Medina in Ohio. His involvement in politics also increased, and he gradually rose through the ranks of the local, and then national government, being elected by the Connecticut legislature to the United States Senate. He served as Senator from Connecticut until his death in Ohio. Elijah Boardman was the largest slave-owner in his hometown of New Milford in 1780. According to the US Census of 1780, he owned six slaves.

Michael Joseph Sandlock was an American professional baseball utility player who played in Major League Baseball from 1942 to 1953. He played for the Boston Braves, Brooklyn Dodgers and Pittsburgh Pirates. Listed at 6 ft 1 in (1.85 m), 180 lb., he was a switch-hitter and threw right-handed. From the death of Connie Marrero on April 23, 2014 until his own death on April 4, 2016, Sandlock was the oldest living former major league player. That distinction was passed on to Eddie Carnett.
