Domenico Gnoli was an Italian painter and stage designer, born in Rome. He studied stage design at the Accademia di Belle Arti, and began a short stint designing stages, for which he was well received. Following this, he spent the better part of his life in New York City, working for magazines such as Sports Illustrated, and Fortune, where he found favour with art director Leo Lionni. He is known most for his work "Orestes or The Art of Smiling".

Mohammad-Ali Rajai was the second President of Iran from 2 to 30 August 1981 after serving as prime minister under Abolhassan Banisadr. He was also minister of foreign affairs from 11 March 1981 to 15 August 1981, while he was prime minister. He was assassinated in a bombing on 30 August 1981 along with prime minister Mohammad-Javad Bahonar.

Bruno Lionel Schroder was a British banker and billionaire and a significant landowner in Scotland. He was a direct descendant of Johann Heinrich Schröder, co-founder of financial institution Schroders, and the longest serving non-executive board member of any company on the London FTSE 100. Forbes magazine estimated Schroder's family wealth at US$6.2 billion in August 2018.
