Volkert van der Graaf is a Dutch environmentalist and animal rights activist who was convicted for assassinating politician Pim Fortuyn, the leader of the right-wing Pim Fortuyn List (LPF), on 6 May 2002. This occurred during the political campaign for the Dutch general elections of 2002.
