Michael Ellis

Michael Ellis is an American attorney, Republican political operative, and government official. He served in multiple positions in the Trump administration and is known as a Donald Trump loyalist. His installation as the general counsel of the National Security Agency (NSA) during the closing days of the Trump administration, over the objections of the Director of the NSA and in obedience to a direct order from the acting Secretary of Defense, sparked controversy. On January 20, 2021, Ellis was put on administrative leave due to a Department of Defense inspector general investigation into his appointment.
