Max Liebermann

Max Liebermann

Max Liebermann was a German painter and printmaker of Ashkenazi Jewish ancestry, and one of the leading proponents of Impressionism in Germany and continental Europe. Once little known by anglo-american collectors, he has gained increasing prominence for his 'revolutionary' style and brushstroke. Liebermann's quality of painting is today compared by many experts to the likes of Renoir- even surpassing it in some respects.
