William Otter
William Otter was the first Principal of King's College, London, who later served as Bishop of Chichester. He was educated at Jesus College, Cambridge where he was later made a fellow. He was appointed Principal of the newly established King's College, London, in 1831, and held the post until 1836 when he was appointed Bishop of Chichester. Otter established a small college to train schoolmasters in 1840, which was rebuilt in his memory in 1849 as Bishop Otter College, now the main Bishop Otter Campus of the University of Chichester.

William Baffin was an English navigator, explorer and cartographer. He is primarily known for his attempt to discover a Northwest Passage from the Atlantic to the Pacific, during the course of which he was the first European to discover Baffin Bay in present-day Canada. He was also responsible for exceptional surveys of the Red Sea and Persian Gulf on behalf of the East India Company.
