Maxim Afinogenov
Maxim Sergeyevich Afinogenov is a Russian professional ice hockey player who is currently an unrestricted free agent. He most recently played for Dynamo Moscow of the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL). Known for his skating speed, he was drafted by the National Hockey League (NHL)'s Buffalo Sabres in the third round, 69th overall, in 1997 and played nine seasons with the club. He then played one season with the Atlanta Thrashers before signing with SKA Saint Petersburg in 2010.

Maxim Vladimirovich Petrov is a Russian serial killer, convicted for the killing of 11 people in St Petersburg between 1999 and 2000. Petrov, nicknamed Doctor Death by the Russian media, was a practicing doctor who targeted patients from a local health center, killing them by lethal injection at their homes then robbing them.

Maxim Lapierre is a Canadian former professional ice hockey forward. Drafted out of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL), he was selected 61st overall in 2003 by the Montreal Canadiens. He spent parts of his first three professional seasons with the Canadiens' minor league affiliate, the Hamilton Bulldogs of the American Hockey League (AHL), before playing his first full NHL season in 2008–09.

Maxim Gennadyevich Maksimov is a retired Russian biathlete and biathlon coach. He took two individual medals in the Biathlon World Championships, a bronze in 2008 and a silver in 2011: these were also his only podiums in the Biathlon World Cup. In 2019 he was appointed as an assistant coach to the Russian national biathlon team, having previously been a regional coach in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug.
