Mats Julian Hummels is a German professional footballer who plays as a centre back for Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund and the Germany national team.

Mats André Zuccarello Aasen is a Norwegian professional ice hockey winger for the Minnesota Wild of the National Hockey League (NHL). He has also played for the New York Rangers and briefly with the Dallas Stars.

Mats Arne Olof Wilander is a former world No. 1 tennis player from Sweden. From 1982 to 1988, he won seven Grand Slam singles titles, and one Grand Slam men's doubles title. His breakthrough came suddenly and unexpectedly when he won the 1982 French Open. This occurred, more or less, simultaneously with countryman Björn Borg's decision to quit tennis.
