His son Subbu Panchu Arunachalam is an actor and dubbing artist in the Tamil film industry. As a writer, he worked in over 100 films. He was also a lyricist, composing lyrics for 200 films. He is the man who introduced Indian composer Ilaiyaraaja to the world of cinema.
