Ala Abdessaheb al-Alwan was Minister of Education in the cabinet appointed by the Interim Iraq Governing Council in September 2003, and Minister of Health in the Iraqi Interim Government.

Sheikh Sulayman al-ʿAlwān or more fully known as, Sulaimān ibn Nāṣir ibn ʿAbd Allāh al-ʿAlwān, is a senior Saudi Arabian scholar and theoretician of militant jihad. He has been described by some as being one of the most knowledgable contemporary scholars of Islam, particularly in the field of Hadith. Many Salafi scholars have spoken well of Sheikh Sulayman Al-Alwan and he is known as a 'Muhaddith'. He is known to have memorised the 9 books of Hadith with the chain of narrations known as 'Isnaad'. At a young age, he memorised a lot of texts in different Islamic sciences alongside the explanations of these texts.
