Toribio Alonso de Salazar, born in Biscay, was a Spanish navigator of Basque origin, who was the first Westerner to arrive on the Marshall Islands on August 21, 1526.

Beatrice Fihn is a Swedish lawyer and, since 1 July 2014, executive director of the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons (ICAN). Together with Hiroshima survivor, Setsuko Thurlow, she accepted the 2017 Nobel Peace Prize for ICAN.

Caspar Tsui Ying-wai is a Hong Kong politician and government official. Since 2020, he has been Secretary for Home Affairs.

Stephan Luckhaus is a German mathematician who is a professor at the University of Leipzig working in pure and applied analysis. His PhD was obtained in 1978 under the supervision of Willi Jäger at the University of Heidelberg. He was elected to the German Academy of Sciences Leopoldina in 2007.

Akyol is a member of the Board of Trustees at TOBB University of Economics and Technology. He is a producer at CNN Türk and was a columnist for the Hürriyet daily until its new, Erdogan-allied owners fired him in September 2018.

Fabien Cloutier is a Canadian actor and playwright from Quebec. He is best known for his play Pour réussir un poulet, which won the Governor General's Award for French language drama at the 2015 Governor General's Awards. He was previously shortlisted for the same award at the 2012 Governor General's Awards, and won the Prix Gratien-Gélinas in 2011, for Billy .
