Erik Eriksen was a Norwegian polar captain. Eriksen was the first to sight and shore Kong Karls Land, commemorated by the strait Erik Eriksenstretet. Eriksen also contributed to the invention of the grenade harpoon used in modern whaling.

Kan Mi-youn is a South Korean singer, actress, radio host, model, fashion designer, and businesswoman. Kan joined the South Korean girl group Baby V.O.X. in October 1997, which went on to become one of the most popular girl groups of that time. Kan went on to become a solo artist after the group disbanded in February 2006.

Cesário Verde was a 19th-century Portuguese poet. His work, while mostly ignored during his lifetime and not well known outside of the country's borders even today, is generally considered to be amongst the most important in Portuguese poetry and is widely taught in schools. This is partly due to his being championed by many other authors after his death, notably Fernando Pessoa.
