Changhsu Hamilton Hsu, original name Xu Zhangxu, courtesy names Yousen and later Zhimo, which he went by, was an early 20th-century romantic Chinese poet who strove to loosen Chinese poetry from its traditional forms and to reshape it under the influences of Western poetry and the vernacular Chinese language. He is considered one of the most important figures of modern Chinese poetry.

Lin Huiyin was a Chinese architect and architectural historian. She is known to be the first female architect in modern China and her husband the famed "Father of Modern Chinese Architecture" Liang Sicheng, both of whom worked as founders and faculty in the newly formed Architecture Department of Northeastern University in 1928 and, after 1949, as professors in Tsinghua University in Beijing. Liang and Lin began restoration work on cultural heritage sites of China in the post-imperial Republican Era of China; a passion which she would pursue to the end of her life. The American artist Maya Lin is her niece.

Zhu Chen is a Chinese-born Qatari chess Grandmaster. In 1999, she became China's second women's world chess champion after Xie Jun, and China's 13th Grandmaster. In 2006, she obtained Qatari citizenship and since then plays for Qatar.

Fu Yuanhui is a Chinese competitive female swimmer who specializes in backstroke. She won a bronze medal at the 2016 Rio Olympics in the 100-meter backstroke. She is also known for her exuberant personality and infectious happiness.

Lin Yun, also known by her English name Jelly Lin, is a Chinese actress. She is known for her role as the female lead in the 2016 film The Mermaid.

Ding Dang, born as Wu Xian, better known by her stage name, Della, is a Mainland Chinese female singer who developed her career in Taiwan. She left home when she was 18 years old to pursue a singing career and was signed by Rock Records in 2003.

Yitang "Tom" Zhang is a Chinese-born American mathematician working in the area of number theory. While working for the University of New Hampshire as a lecturer, Zhang submitted an article to the Annals of Mathematics in 2013 which established the first finite bound on the least gap between consecutive primes that is attained infinitely often. This work led to a 2014 MacArthur award and his appointment as a professor at the University of California, Santa Barbara.

Chen Min'er is a Chinese politician, currently serving as the Communist Party Secretary of Chongqing, an interior region governed as a municipality. Chen spent most of his career in his native Zhejiang province, serving as head of the provincial department of propaganda, and Vice Governor of Zhejiang. In 2013, he was transferred to Guizhou as governor, and in 2015 promoted to provincial Communist Party Secretary. Chen was catapulted to prominence in 2017 in the aftermath of the ouster of Chongqing party chief Sun Zhengcai, a move that made him well-positioned for further elevation.

Gui Minhai, also known as Michael Gui, is a Chinese-born Swedish book publisher and writer. He is an author of many books related to Chinese politics and Chinese political figures; Gui authored around 200 books during his ten-year career under the pen-name Ah Hai (阿海). and is one of three shareholders of Causeway Bay Books in Hong Kong.
