Diphilus, of Sinope, was a poet of the new Attic comedy and a contemporary of Menander. He is frequently listed together with Menander and Philemon, considered the three greatest poets of New Comedy. He was victorious at least three times at the Lenaia, placing him third before Philemon and Menander. Although most of his plays were written and acted at Athens he died at Smyrna. His body was returned and buried in Athens.

Maximus V was an Orthodox Christian bishop. He was Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople from 1946 until 1948.

Kemalettin Sami Gökçen was a Turkish career officer and politician. He was instrumental in establishing diplomatic relations between the Turkish Republic and Nazi Germany.

Kemal Kayacan was a Turkish admiral. He was Commander of the Turkish Naval Forces from 1972 to 1974. He was elected to the Grand National Assembly of Turkey at the 1977 Turkish general election, serving until 1980.

Yaşar Topçu, is a Turkish politician and former government minister. He stood trial before the Constitutional Court for corruption charges, and was found guilty of malpractice.
