Giovanni Claudio Fava is an Italian politician. He is the Coordinator of the National Secretariat of Sinistra Ecologia Libertà. He was until 2009 Member of the European Parliament for the Italian Islands with the Democratic Left (SD), part of the Socialist Group and is vice-chair of the European Parliament's Committee on Regional Development.

Renato Maria Giuseppe Schifani is an Italian politician. A prominent member of the now-defunct centre-right People of Freedom, he joined the New Centre-Right party in 2013, but he left it in 2016 for Forza Italia, the People of Freedom's successor. From 29 April 2008 to 15 March 2013 he was President of the Italian Senate. Schifani was born in Palermo.

Elio Vittorini was an Italian writer and novelist. He was a contemporary of Cesare Pavese and an influential voice in the modernist school of novel writing. His best-known work is the anti-fascist novel Conversations in Sicily, for which he was jailed when it was published in 1941. The first U.S. edition of the novel, published in 1949, included an introduction from Ernest Hemingway, whose style influenced Vittorini and that novel in particular.

Vito Rallo is an Italian prelate of the Catholic Church, who works in the diplomatic service of the Holy See. He has been the Apostolic Nuncio to Morocco since 2015.
