Irina Yuryevna Bliznova is a Russian handball player, who plays for Lada Togliatti. She won the gold medal at the 2005 and 2007 world championships and 2016 Rio Olympics, placing second in 2008 and eighth in 2012. She announced her retirement shortly after the 2016 Olympics.

Aleksei Viktorovich Tishchenko is a former Russian Olympic boxer best known to dominate the lower weight classes in the last years winning numerous titles. He was regarded as "one of the best pound for pound Olympic boxers in the world".

Islambek Tsilimovich Albiev is a Russian wrestler of Chechen descent, who won a gold medal at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Greco-Roman wrestling. Albiev is a World champion (2009) and two-time European champion.

Simon Ostrovsky is a Russian-born American documentary filmmaker and journalist. He is known for his coverage of the 2014 crisis in Ukraine for VICE News and for Selfie Soldiers, a 2015 documentary in which he re-enacted a Russian soldier's social media posts to track him to Ukraine. He was briefly held hostage by pro-Russia militants there in April 2014. Ostrovsky won an Emmy Award in 2013 for his work with VICE and his series Russian Roulette was nominated for two Emmys. Ostrovsky, who is a Special Correspondent for PBS NewsHour, is also a recipient of the Alfred I. duPont–Columbia University Award.

Although not often referred to as one of that country's prominent business oligarchs, as he became a US citizen in 1994, he nevertheless made his fortune during the privatization of Russian industry, and maintains a close connection to fellow oligarch Roman Abramovich and his circle. In 2008 Shvidler and Ambramovich purchased three houses in Snowmass Village, Colorado totaling over $62 million dollars in real estate.
