Phillip Augustus Griffiths IV is an American mathematician, known for his work in the field of geometry, and in particular for the complex manifold approach to algebraic geometry. He was a major developer in particular of the theory of variation of Hodge structure in Hodge theory and moduli theory. He also worked on partial differential equations, coauthored with Shiing-Shen Chern, Robert Bryant and Robert Gardner on Exterior Differential Systems.

Edward Andrew "Ned" Brower is the drummer/vocalist in the Los Angeles rock quintet Rooney and is also a model and actor. Brower was born in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, U.S., and raised in Seattle, Washington. He has modeled for J. Crew, Abercrombie and Fitch, Tommy Hilfiger, Donna Karen, Ralph Lauren, and The Gap, and also appeared in several films and television shows. He and his wife Sarah Jane Morris have a son and a daughter.

His true crime history, The Midnight Assassin, about a series of murders attributed to the Servant Girl Annihilator that took place in Austin, Texas, in 1885, was published in April 2016 by Henry Holt and Company.

William Edgar Thornton was an American NASA astronaut. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in physics from University of North Carolina and a doctorate in medicine, also from UNC. He flew on Challenger twice, the STS-8 and STS-51B missions.
