Vyacheslav Aleksandrovich Belov was a Soviet modern pentathlon competitor, who won two team medals at the world championships of 1969–70. A Colonel with the Soviet Militsiya, he took part in the cleanup operation after the Chernobyl disaster. He was married to the legendary Russian fencer Elena Belova.

Rodney James Baxter FRS FAA is an Australian physicist, specializing in statistical mechanics. He is well known for his work in exactly solved models, in particular vertex models such as the six-vertex model and eight-vertex model, and the chiral Potts model and hard hexagon model. A recurring theme in the solution of such models, the Yang–Baxter equation, also known as the "star–triangle relation", is named in his honour.

Oumou Sangaré is a Grammy Award-winning Malian Wassoulou musician, sometimes referred to as "The Songbird of Wassoulou". Wassoulou is a historical region south of the Niger River, where the music descends from age-old traditional song, often accompanied by a calabash.

John Ross Beyrle is an American diplomat. A career Foreign Service Officer and specialist in Russian and Eastern European affairs, he served as Ambassador of the United States to the Russian Federation from July 3, 2008 until January 10, 2012, and as Ambassador to Bulgaria from 2005 to 2008.

Sir Charles Cockerell, 1st Baronet was a Somerset-born Englishman who prospered as an official of the East India Company (EIC) and became a politician. He sat in the House of Commons for most of the period between 1802 and 1837, sitting for five different constituencies.

Peter Hess Stone was an American screenwriter and playwright. Stone is perhaps best remembered by the general public for the screenplays he wrote or co-wrote in the mid-1960s, Charade (1963), Father Goose (1964), and Mirage (1965).
