List of Famous people born in Castile and León, Spain

Bernardino de Sahagún was a Franciscan friar, missionary priest and pioneering ethnographer who participated in the Catholic evangelization of colonial New Spain. Born in Sahagún, Spain, in 1499, he journeyed to New Spain in 1529. He learned Nahuatl and spent more than 50 years in the study of Aztec beliefs, culture and history. Though he was primarily devoted to his missionary task, his extraordinary work documenting indigenous worldview and culture has earned him the title as “the first anthropologist." He also contributed to the description of the Aztec language Nahuatl. He translated the Psalms, the Gospels, and a catechism into Nahuatl.

Raquel Martínez Rabanal is a journalist and a television and radio hostess from Palencia, Spain. Martinez began working for RNE in Valladolid, where she hosted the show La memoria del vino in 2004. In 2006, she began hosting the news for Canal 24 Horas.

Rosa María Valdeón Santiago is a Spanish politician and physician. Rosa Valdeón is a member of the People's Party of Castile and León. Rosa Valdeón was the Minister of Economy and Finance of Castile and León, in office from 8 July 2015 to 10 September 2016. She was the mayor of Zamora from 2007 to 2015. Rosa Valdeón was also the procurator of the Cortes of Castile and León. Rosa Valdeón held the position of general director of public health at the Junta of Castile and León from 2001 to 2003.

Leonor de Cisneros, was a Spanish Protestant who was executed for heresy by the Spanish Inquisition and regarded as a Protestant martyr. Her case belongs amongst the most famed of the Spanish Inquisition.

Carolina Rodríguez Ballesteros is a retired Spanish rhythmic gymnast. She is a veteran of the sport who started her senior career in the early 2000s. She competed in three Olympic cycles: at the 2004 Athens where she was member of the Spanish group, at the 2012 London competing as an individual gymnast where she finished 14th in all-around qualifications and at the 2016 Rio competing again as an individual, finishing in 8th in the rhythmic gymnastics individual all-around final.

José Luis Uribarri Grenouillou was a Spanish television presenter and director for TVE. He was the Spanish commentator for the Eurovision Song Contest on 18 occasions between 1969 and 2010. He was widely known as La voz de Eurovisión in Spain.

Manuel Bartolomé Carreño Molina is a Spanish radio and television presenter. Since April 2006, he has presented the news sports program of Cuatro, a position in which he has been accompanied by Manolo Lama and Nico Abad. He is the main narrator of the football matches broadcast by Cuatro and Telecinco. Additionally, on August 21, 2016, he also began directing the stringer in the SER chain, whose other sports program of reference, Sports Carousel, was previously presented.
