He is known as the "father of molecular beam epitaxy"; a technique he developed at that facility in the late 1960s. He is also the co-inventor, with Federico Capasso of quantum cascade lasers at Bell Labs in 1994.

Vitina Marcus is a retired American actress of Sicilian and Hungarian descent. Her parents were Rose and Frank Marcus, and her Sicilian grandmother was named Vitina. She now works in real estate.

Virgilio López Irias O.F.M. was a Honduran clergyman and bishop for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Trujillo (Honduras). He became ordained in 1973. He was appointed bishop in 1987. He died in 2004.
