List of Famous people named Mahmood

Mahmoud Darwish was a Palestinian poet and author who was regarded as the Palestinian national poet. He won numerous awards for his works. Darwish used Palestine as a metaphor for the loss of Eden, birth and resurrection, and the anguish of dispossession and exile. He has been described as incarnating and reflecting "the tradition of the political poet in Islam, the man of action whose action is poetry." He also served as an editor for several literary magazines in Palestine.

Mahmood Khan is a Pakistani politician who is the current Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, in office since 17 August 2018. He has been a member of the Provincial Assembly of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa since 13 August 2018.

Mahmood Mamdani, FBA is a Ugandan academic, author, and political commentator. He currently serves as the Chancellor of Kampala International University, Uganda. He is the director of the Makerere Institute of Social Research (MISR), the Herbert Lehman Professor of Government at the School of International and Public Affairs, Columbia University and the Professor of Anthropology, Political Science and African Studies at Columbia University.
