A former amateur wrestler at Chuo University, he made his professional debut in January 2017, reaching the top makuuchi division in July 2021. His highest rank has been maegashira 13. He wrestles for Hanaregoma stable.

Shin Tae-yang is a South Korean badminton player. Shin was educated at Chungju high school and was part of the national junior team that claimed the mixed team title at the 2017 Asian Junior Championships, and also won three bronze medals in the individual event at that competition in 2017 and 2018. At the World Junior Championships, he helped the team win the bronze medal in 2017, a silver medal in 2018, and also clinched the silver medal in the boys' doubles event in 2018.
