Aleksandr Aleksandrovich Kirichenko is a Ukrainian track cyclist. He won the gold medal in the 1 km time trial at the 1988 Summer Olympics, competing for the Soviet Union.

Nikolai Nikolayevich Andreyev was a Russian physicist who specialized in the study of music and acoustics. The Andreyev Acoustics Institute and a research vessel Akademik Nikolai Andreyev are named after him.

Stepan Prokofyevich Timoshenko, was a Ukrainian, Russian, and later, an American engineer and academician. He is considered to be the father of modern engineering mechanics. An inventor and one of the pioneering mechanical engineers at the St. Petersburg Polytechnic University. A founding member of the Ukrainian Academy of Sciences, Timoshenko wrote seminal works in the areas of engineering mechanics, elasticity and strength of materials, many of which are still widely used today. Having started his scientific career in the Russian Empire, Timoshenko emigrated to the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes during the Russian Civil War and then to the United States.

Abram Fedorovich Ioffe was a prominent Russian/Soviet physicist. He received the Stalin Prize (1942), the Lenin Prize (1960) (posthumously), and the Hero of Socialist Labor (1955). Ioffe was an expert in various areas of solid state physics and electromagnetism. He established research laboratories for radioactivity, superconductivity, and nuclear physics, many of which became independent institutes.

Hryhoriy Fedorovych Hrynko was a Soviet Ukrainian statesman who held high office in the government of the Soviet Union.
