Catherine of Poděbrady was the second wife of Matthias Corvinus, King of Hungary.

Anton Heida was an American gymnast who competed in the 1904 Summer Olympics, where he won five gold medals. He won the vault, horizontal bar, pommel horse, team competition and all-around titles, becoming the most successful athlete at the 1904 Olympics.

Petr Vakoč is a Czech cyclist, who currently rides for UCI ProTeam Alpecin–Fenix.

Wenceslaus I, called One-Eyed, was King of Bohemia from 1230 to 1253.

Jakub Arbes was a Czech writer and intellectual. He is best known as the creator of the literary genre called romanetto and spent much of his professional life in France.

Katherina Matousek is a former pair skater who competed for Canada. Early in her career, she competed with Eric Thomsen. She joined forces with partner Lloyd Eisler in 1982. In 1984, they won the gold medal at the Canadian Championships and competed in the Olympics, finishing eighth. The next year they won the bronze medal at the 1985 World Championships.

Karel Husa was a Czech-born classical composer and conductor, winner of the 1969 Pulitzer Prize for Music and 1993 University of Louisville Grawemeyer Award for Music Composition. In 1954, he immigrated to the United States and became an American citizen in 1959.

Petr Uhl was a Czech journalist, activist, and politician. A member of the Civic Forum, he served in the Federal Assembly of Czechoslovakia from 1990 to 1992. He was also a signatory of Charter 77.
