Zbyněk Berka z Dubé (1551–1606) was a Catholic Cleric, cardinal and the tenth Archbishop of Prague. He was a member of the religious order called Knights of the Cross with the Red Star.

Karel Jaromír Erben was a Czech folklorist and poet of the mid-19th century, best known for his collection Kytice , which contains poems based on traditional and folkloric themes.

Hanuš Wihan was a renowned Czech cellist, considered the greatest of his time. He was strongly associated with the works of Antonín Dvořák, whose Cello Concerto in B minor, Rondo in G minor, and the short piece Silent Woods were all dedicated to him. He was the founder and later cellist of the Czech String Quartet, which was world-famous throughout its 40-year existence.

Karel Čapek was a Czech writer, playwright and critic. He has become best known for his science fiction, including his novel War with the Newts (1936) and play R.U.R., which introduced the word robot. He also wrote many politically charged works dealing with the social turmoil of his time. Influenced by American pragmatic liberalism, he campaigned in favor of free expression and strongly opposed the rise of both fascism and communism in Europe.
