Muhammad ibn Muslim ibn Ubaydullah ibn Abdullah ibn Shihab al-Zuhri, also referred to as Ibn Shihab or al-Zuhri, was a tabi'i Arab jurist and traditionist credited with pioneering the development of sīra-maghazi and hadith literature.

Imam Muhammad ibn Imam Ismāʿīl alias Maymūn Al-Qaddāḥ was the son of Isma'il ibn Jafar; he was an Ismāʿīlī Imam. The majority of Ismāʿīlī follow his descendants through his son Wafi Ahmad. His descendants further founded the Fatimid Caliphate, later called the Nizari and Mustaali. Imam Muhammad ibn Imam Ismail can be considered the first proper Ismaili Imam since Imam Isma'il ibn Ja'far predeceased his father Imam Jafar-as-Sadiq and thus he was able to act independently of previous Imams. From him came all other Ismaili Imams and subsequent sub-sects of Ismailism and it' offshoots.

Talal Asad is a Saudi-born British cultural anthropologist at the Graduate Center of the City University of New York. Asad has made important theoretical contributions to postcolonialism, Christianity, Islam, and ritual studies and has recently called for, and initiated, an anthropology of secularism. Using a genealogical method developed by Friedrich Nietzsche and made prominent by Michel Foucault, Asad "complicates terms of comparison that many anthropologists, theologians, philosophers, and political scientists receive as the unexamined background of thinking, judgment, and action as such. By doing so, he creates clearings, opening new possibilities for communication, connection, and creative invention where opposition or studied indifference prevailed".
